On 1st August each year we celebrate Yorkshire Day. It is a unique opportunity to remember and celebrate the county and its many achievements. Last year saw many Yorkshire folk achieve Olympic and sporting gold in London.
Only 43 of the British Olympic team’s 541 athletes were from Yorkshire, but with three bronzes, two silvers and six gold medals, Yorkshire athletes accounted for nearly a fifth of Great Britain’s medal haul. If Yorkshire were a country, it would rank above Australia and Japan in the medal table. Something we’re very proud of!
